Asphalt is the place where street spirit and art galleries come together, it is giving shape to the global process through witch society and culture are undergoing today.
It expresses the essence of what is given and what is taken away, and the latter is always a public question. Asphalt is still free to BE, to exist within a person or a group, still free to share its existence with the world.
Asphalt - street on an exhibition is a project by a group of artist who share the street as the common place of expression. They all come from the skateboarding and street culture, and use skateboard as a medium of expression.
Andy takes it as a base to paint on, he dismantles it and creates new meanings and use from its pieces, Jaka and Sergej see it as a combination of rational and irrational, a question or a moment which they offer to the viewer.
Leon Zuodar is taking the impulses of the street and transfers them into his paintings and graphics, while Filjio and Pas play with words, thoughts, paroles, architecture and objects of the street which then loose their primary meaning, become alive and make you think as you pass by.
The goal of Asphalt and its various artists is to create free thought and action.

connecting various forms of street expression and communication one of asfalt´s main objectives is in the process of setting up the exhibition.
asfalt would like to create an object that fuses together different perspectives and thoughts….., ,….the expressions and for the further development of urban communication and its application to the street.
concept:
The plan is that exhibition in Zagreb lives behind a sculpture that will not only contain its artistic value, but will also give skateboarders a chance to perform tricks on it, and with that give it another meaning.
Within the actual sculpture, there will be a space that will be protected by plexi-glass for exhibiting various elements such as artwork, photographs or objects.
…………………..project: 7 days of fucking skateboard films
running parallel with the construction of the skateboard sculpture, asfalt will be presenting a week of skateboarding films, which will finish with the opening of the art of asfalt and the opening of the main sculpture.
During the week, Asphalt will also be presenting to the public, various international and regional skateboard documentaries and short films.

andy kuljiš
Graduated from the Academy of fine arts in Zagreb, under the Mentorship of prof. Ante Kuduz.
born on the 04.12.1975.in Toronto, Canada.
His interests range from painting to photography and video.
As cammeraman and editor Andy collaborated with director Mario Kovac on two of his films; the Bore Lee film ‘’Cuvaj se sinjske ruke'’ and a short film »Gluttony«.
His work was exibited in Split, Zagreb and in Toronto, where he won the ‘’student award'’ at the Toronto Outdoor Art Exibition in 1999.
At the moment he is living and working in Split, Croatia.
Andy has been skateboarding since 1986. He still surprises us with a different approach to skateboarding as a motif in his artwork.

leon zuodar
One of the founders of «The White Ice-cream» art group was born in 1977. in Postojna, Slovenia. He graduated painting on the Academy of fine arts in Ljubljana.
Leon experiments with painting, comics, grafical design and animation. He also organises exibitions in youth’s centre Postojna. Many slovenian bands borrowed his work for their record covers, and some of it has been published in magazine «Kontejner» and in the «Blackbook» from Berlin.
jaka babnik
Self- taught photgrapher born in 1979. in Ljubljana is working with photography and video since 1996. Main subject of his art is skateboard culture. He was the lead photographer of the slovenian - croatian skate magazin «Pendrek» from 1998. to 2006.
His work was published in many famous europaean and american magazines, such as «Transworld Business», «Sidewalk», «Monster Skateboard Mag», «Kingpin»…
Jaka won the best camera award for two of his video works «Damage» and ‘’Listen To Srećna Mladina'’ on the 10th Independent film festival in Slovenia. Up till now you might have seen his work in Slovenia, Croatia and Sweden. Recently he became the editor of the transbalkan street magazine «Kontejner».
sergej vutuc
Allaround artist born in 1979. in Doboj, spent 10 years in Zagreb and at the moment he is residing in Heilbronn. He’s been active in the hc/punk scene since mid ‘90. (founder of Get off records, guitarist of five minutes to steve). In the 21th century he trades his guitar for photo camera, and starts doing theatre and conceptual art.
Sergej had over 25 exibitions all over America and Europe, his work has been published in different international skateboard and art magazines and fanzines, and he also published his very own book object, called ‘’No skateboarding permitted’’.
He also tasted the stage life and performance as one of the directors and actors in skateboarding theatre performance »Skateboard series 1-3« staged in Heilbronn.
He is in charge of Basementizid.kunst.cellar gallery in Heilbronn since 2005.
